| First off, It ticks me off that when People hear the words "Comic Book Movie" they already prejudged in there minds that it's going to be Campy (Silly). It's all to thanks to the Batman 1960's show staring Adam West and Burt Ward. In a way I hate that show for being ever made....but I can't hate it....It's that show that got me into Batman!! The term (Comic Book) doesnt mean "Funny" The Term "Comic" only means they way that the story is written and drawn on the pages. If You take a look at most of the comics today there is no humor in them...Take Superheros...Batman, Superman, HellBoy, Spiderman etc....They are lighthearted when in cartoon form...but if you take a look at the comic books they have a darkness to them....Take Batman (My favorite Hero) I don't call him a superhero because he has no powers...he just uses his mind to capture the bad guys. |
| Batman is a dark character. Forget everything you saw on Adam West Batman. Let me tell you the real dark story of Batman....As a Young boy Bruce (Batman) saw his parents get murdered in front of him when he was only about 8 or 9....Sounds funny huh??? If you said yes...your sick!! From that moment he swore not to let criminals loose in his city. The villains on Batman are dark also...The darkness of them all is The Joker!! He will kill people left and right without thinking twice!! The Joker is a mass murdered...They don't tell you that in the Adam West Batman...In the Adam West Batman the Joker just steels stuff!! They tamed Batman down for kids!! |
| Now Lets look at Spiderman. He got his powers from getting bit by a spider. Well when he relives he has powers he made a spider outfit to wrestle in to make big bucks!! Well one day after one of his matches he went down the hallway and saw a man rob his boss....Well Peter (Spiderman) didn't do anything to stop the criminal. Peter was to worried about his own safety. Well this is the dark part.....When he comes home from work (living with his aunt and uncle) he turns on the tv and sees a news story about a man who got murdered in cold blood. they release the photo of the man who killed the man and it was the same guy that robed Peter's boss. Then a released the name of the person who was killed..it was Peter's Uncle. Well this makes Peter go into a deep dark state of mind. We swore he would never let criminals get way with murder again!! The last thing that his uncle said to Peter Was "With great Power comes Great responsibility" Sounds like a funny story huh?? Murder Death...all funny stuff!! Get my point!?!? Not Funny!! |
| Now lets take a look at the Punisher. A So called hero...In my mind he nothing more then a killer. His family was murder by the mob..So he takes the law in his own hands and kills them all. Then after that, he hunts down drug users, rapist etc...And kills them in cold blood. The Punisher got his start in Spiderman comics. Spiderman hates the Punisher for killing criminals instead of putting them behind bars. Spiderman thinks of him as a criminal. so you still think that Comics are Funny Stuff!! Like I said comic books not all Funny!! |
| Most off the Superheros have dark stories. It's time to stop thinking of Comic Books as "Funny fun stories" but think of them as Graphic navels!! When you do that You will think of Comic Book movies the way the should be thought of. as a graphic navels coming to life. Believe me if you seen some of the comics I've seen they will make you hurl. There are Friday The 13th Comics out there that makes the movies look tame..Which really the Comics are more graphic then the movies.. The movies aren't that bad at all!! Less blood then you think..but with a Graphic novel you can be a gory as you want!! Anyway... Thank God that most movies now that are Comic Book movies are being taken seriously. Like Batman Begins, Spiderman, HellBoy, X-Men etc.... That's not to say that all Comic Book movies should be dark...Take Men In Black, Fat Albert, Garfield. Scooby Doo. There just fun Movies....But as far as a Story That is written dark, should stay dark. Don't mess with the Artists original Ideas. That's why movies like Batman Forever, Batman And Robin and other campy superhero movies never made it pass 2 million at the box office....They stuck!! Now if you have kids I recommend them for them, to get them into the world of Superheros....But as adults stay with the Darker stuff...The way that theses stories were meant to be... |
