22nd MPAD History
Home
The 22nd Mobile Public Affairs Detachment is the only active duty MPAD in the Army.
Our mission is to provide the full spectrum of public affairs support to the Army and Joint Task Force units.  Throughout our 33-year history, the 22nd regularly found itself in combat and peacekeeping operations around the world.
Our unit was activated January 8th, 1968 at Fort Bragg, NC.  Our members served in Vietnam, supporting the 9th Infantry Division during five major operations in 1968 and 1969.
The unit was de-activated in August 1969, but returned to service October 16th, 1990 at Fort Bragg.
MPAD members immediately deployed to Southwest Asia...providing public affairs support during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
Since 1990, we have supported Hurricane Andrew relief efforts, Operation Restore Hope in Somalia, Intrinsic Action in Kuwait, and Joint Endeavor in Bosnia.
Today the MPAD continues our proud tradition into the 21st century, by supporting KFOR and the First Armored Division in Operation Joint Guardian in Kosovo.
