M*POWER: Founded: January 2001. Founder: James Kasper.

The M*POWER Goal is:
*To produce events which are inspired and inspiring, entertaining for audiences, and empowering for the performers.
* To provide a solid  & professional launching pad for musicians aspiring towards a career in music.
* To instill confidence in performers  and treat them with the respect they deserve.
* To provide career direction, exposure through live shows & media promotions, and consultation for image, stage presence, and music.
* To work with independent musicians in developing professional media kits which best represent the the artists' style, image, & sound.
* To establish & maintain a positive rapport with a strong network of musicians, media, venues, public, and community partners. The purpose of such a network is to create a music community which will  work together to a build a powerful, positive, fun, & interesting independent music scene.

About Kasper....
Kasper has been a music promoter and musician on the BC and Ontario music scenes for the past 8 years, producing such shows as the The M*POWER Awards (Vancouver Island Independent Music Awards),SONGS FOR THE HEART benefit concert for the Heart & Stroke Foundation, SONGS FOR THE CURE bEnefit concert for Canadian Cancer Society, the CANADIAN GIRL POWER concert series (on-going at various venues), the PROUD 2B LOUD concert series (on-going at various venues), AcoustaPALOOZA! , and FIRESCAPE (Kitchener, ON).

Between 1996 and 2000, Kasper was one half of the alt-folk duo Kasper Veil. Kasper Veil recorded two full-length CDs (
Metro Gnome - 1998, & folk is dead but who's listening - 2000), appeared on 3 compilation CDs (Pluto's - The Open Stage, Vol.1 - 1998, Live at Java - recorded live at Java Coffeehouse in Victoria BC in 1999, & Origins - recorded live at the Poor Alex Theatre in Toronto, ON in 2000).  Kasper Veil toured Canada once, in 2000. Kasper  is now fronting the band DYNACO (see link to left).
