ARRESTS IN SEXUAL ASSAULT OF A MINOR
On Wednesday, January 16, 2002, Menlo Park Police Detectives were contacted by the Redwood City Police Department, after they discovered a missing female juvenile out of their city had been sexually assaulted in Menlo Park. The missing female juvenile returned home safely, and informed police of the assaults. Menlo Park Police Detectives conducted the sexual assault investigation. Early Thursday morning, January 17, 2002, a team of Menlo Park Police Detectives and Officers, arrested nineteen-year-old Sherman West (DOB: 06-19-82), and eighteen year old Robert Curry, (DOB: 09-11-83) both of Menlo Park, for a variety of sexual assault charges. The charges against the men include unlawful sex with a minor, lewd acts with a minor under fourteen years of age, sodomy with a minor, sexual battery, molesting a child, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Both men were arrested without incident and booked into the San Mateo County Jail. The assaults occurred separately in the Bellehaven neighborhood of Menlo Park. The assaults began in October 2001. A third adult suspect in this case is also being investigated. Due to the age of the victim and the nature of the charges no further information can be released. |
