On Saturday January 31, 2004 at 00:39 A.M. the Menlo Park police were notified by several callers on 9-1-1 of a woman screaming in the O’Connor neighborhood of Menlo Park. Officers and police dogs responded into the area and cordoned it off within minutes of the call and of contacting the 40-year-old victim. Police determined that a woman, home alone, was accosted by an Unknown Black Male Adult (Description above) who entered her home without force possibly through an unlocked door or window (Screen removed and left nearby). Once inside the suspect then knelt over the victim in bed and attempted to cover her mouth. The victim fought off the attacker and screamed for help. The suspect then fled on foot into the neighborhood. A police search failed to locate the suspect. Leads are being sought and anyone with information on this incident or any similar occurrence is encouraged to call the Menlo Park Police at 330-6300. The Investigating Officer is Jeff Keegan.
