Suspect Arrested - Assault with a Deadly Weapon On Monday February 23rd at about 4:00 PM, Menlo Park Police Officers responded to the parking lot of the Safeway Grocery Store located at 525 El Camino Real on a report of two men fighting with sticks. When officers arrived they found the victim, an adult male, standing at the front entrance to the grocery store, bleeding from a cut on his forehead. The victim told officers that he had just been assaulted by a friend of his on the north side of the Safeway parking lot. Menlo Park Officers quickly began to check the area and located the suspect, identified as Mr. Timothy Santiago. Mr. Santiago was arrested without incident in the Safeway parking lot. Apparently the victim and suspect who knew one another and became involved in a heated argument. During the course of the argument the suspect picked up a hockey stick and struck the victim at least once in the head. After being struck, the victim was assisted by another friend to the front entrance of the Safeway store to summon police. The victim was transported to Stanford Hospital for treatment of his injuries. The suspect was arrested and booked into the San Mateo County Jail on assault charges. No other persons were injured as a result of this altercation. |
