    On May 24, 2001, Police Chief Scott S.G. Vermeer recognized the excellent service provided by his employees at the Menlo Park Police Department’s annual meeting. Department members celebrated the outstanding work, service, accountability and professionalism of their peers in 2000 and reflected and reaffirmed their commitment to excellence and building a higher performing organization. At this meeting employees were recognized for their exceptional contributions to the community in many service areas.

    Employee recognition was given to employees:

    • Communications Officer Darryl Lindsay for his positive attitude;

    • Officer William Massey for Community Policing Projects;

    • Officers Van Trask and Ron Albertson in Recognition for their commitment to our youth;

    • Records Officer Deborah Calvillo for her customer service;

    • Officer Ed Estrada for his work ethic;

    • Sergeant Terri Molakides for her recruitment efforts;

    • Nancy Ely for her overall work product;

    • Detectives Paul Kunkel Eric Cowans for their efforts to fight crime especially in the area of drug sales and gang activity;

    • Sergeant Dan Liu for his leadership;

    • Officer Mark Boettger in recognition of his efforts in training and community policing projects,

    • Officer Glenn Raggio for his compassion.


    Our Employee of the Year award for 2000 was presented to Officer Jeff Keegan who is solely responsible for the Police Department’s web site ( www.menloparkpolice.com ). Officer Keegan created and maintains the web site while working full-time as a patrol officer. The MPPD web site offers online information for dozens of information topics from recruiting to purchase of permits. Online reports can be filed through the web site and information and links on police services and neighborhood crime statistics can be found.
