    Victim:
    Yoshiyuki Ishii
    DOB:  03/02/49    51 years old
    Union City
    Resident Alien from Japan

On 6/8/00 at 12:40 P.M. Menlo Park Police Department Communications received a report of a possible body floating in the above location just west of the Dumbarton Bridge. Responding officers indeed located a person floating about 100 feet off shore. With the assistance of Menlo Park Fire Protection District Personnel the body was recovered. The deceased has been identified as Yoshiyuki Ishii.

His last place of residence was in Union City, but has not lived at his last known address for some time. His family has been notified in Japan. To our knowledge Ishii does not have family here in the United States. Preliminarily, there are no apparent signs of foul play or traumatic injury. The cause of death appears to be suicide by drowning. The final determination to the cause of death can be made when the toxicology reports are complete.

Detectives are continuing their investigation into Mr. Ishii’s death and any information regarding this crime would be appreciated. They are especially interested in learning Mr. Ishii’s last residence and the location of two vehicles that are registered to him which are described as:

    1) 1997 Ford CA Plate #3VUD207, and
    2) 1996 Acura CA Plate #4FFB844.

Please contact Detective Paul Kunkel at 650-858-3300. ####
