On 06/29/00 at 11:05 P.M. Menlo Park Police Department officers responded to the railroad tracks near San Francisquito Creek on a report from an Amtrak engineer that a person had been struck by his train. A subject was found on the Southbound tracks North of the Alma Street train trestle, crossing the creek.

The male subject, 30 years, is possibly a German National and was identified by a passport in his possesion. He was decapitated at the scene. The subject was observed lying on tracks prior to impact with the train. Amtrak Police assumed scene responsibility and jurisdiction for the investigation. Menlo Park Police assisted their initial investigation. The San Mateo County Coroner's office responded and took control of body. Investigation continues.
