BANK ROBBERY

E-mail: atbouja@menlopark.org Media Contact: Sergeant Terri Molakides, Media Relations Telephone: (650) 858-3386 E-mail: twmolakides@menlopark.org On September 5, 2001 at approximately 9:40 A.M. a bank robbery occurred at 1105 El Camino Real, the Bay View Bank, in Menlo Park. The suspect was described as a black male in his thirties, approximately 5'-09" and 150-180 lbs. He was described as wearing a red baseball style cap, dark sunglasses, and a white button up shirt and dark pants. The suspect was armed with a dark color semi-automatic handgun while carrying a black leather bag. After the suspect entered the bank, he brandished the handgun and then jumped over the teller counter. The suspect ordered all of the bank employees into a back room where the main bank vault was located. He then ordered the employees to give him the money from the vault. Once he was given the money from the vault, the suspect fled back over the teller counter and exited the bank onto El Camino Real. The suspect fled on foot to an unknown location with an undisclosed amount of cash.
