Suspect Arrested:   BOTTOMS, Wilmer, age 36, of Menlo Park

In the early morning of October 16, at about 3:18 AM, a woman on Waverley St. called 9-1-1 to report a grand theft in progress. She relayed to us that a man had taken a lot of furniture, a microwave and sporting equipment from her carport and was fleeing. The property added up to nearly $2,000. The vehicle was described and officers converged on the area within minutes. Our quick multiple car response and thorough search resulted in the discovery of the car and property only minutes after the call.

The suspect, later identified as Wilmer Bottoms of Menlo Park, was interrupted as he unloaded the stolen property and hid for a short time. He was located and the property was ultimately returned to the owner. In the course of this investigation we entered the apartment of the suspect and discovered what could be a cache of stolen property. The scene was secured and a search warrant was sought for Mr. Bottoms' residence. Wilmer Bottoms was booked on two felony charges. The final disposition and charging of this suspect is still to be determined.
