APOLLO (1841)
The U.S. ship APOLLO, 412 tons, was built at Portsmouth, New
Hampshire, in 1841. She appears to have been a general trader, with neither a
set route nor a set schedule. She was registered at New York on 23 November
1848.

- Thomas Winsor, master, advertised as sailing in the Dispatch Line of coastal
packets between Boston and Savannah.
- 1847
- [John R.] Howe, master, advertised as sailing in the Union Line of coastal
packets between New York and New Orleans.

51 days from Havre, with merchandise and 151 passengers, to Taylor &
Merrill (passenger manifest dated 19 July 1847; National Archives Microfilm
Publication M237, roll 68, list #521 for 1847).
- According to contemporary New York newspapers and the Allgemeine
Auswanderungs-Zeitung, the ship APOLLO, [Peter] Protteau, master,
arrived at New York on Sunday, 10 September 1848, from Bremen 22 July 1848,
with merchandise and 160 steerage passengers, to W. Weisser, vessel to E.
& T. Poppe. Microfilm copy of the passenger manifest for this voyage,
