Flag Description
The City of Alameda (Spanish for popular grove) was organized as a California Charter city on 27 December 1884. It is
located southwest of Oakland and has a population of about 72,000.
The flag of the City of Alameda is a white and blue swallowtail divided vertically with white on the hoist. Near the bottom is a bar, blue on white and white on blue. In the center is a red anchor and letter "A" superimposed with the cross bar of the "A" angled towards the center. In the upper hoist area is a red star and a white star appears in the upper fly.
