Ren and Stimpy:
Kricfalusi's final two episodes
part 2
Sven and Stimpy take this time to get aquatinted.  Sven starts by showing Stimpy his jar of spit (he's been saving it since he was a child), and Stimpy shows Sven his "magic nose goblins," about which the less said the better.  Somewhere in this sequence, Stimpy's brain falls out of his head.  This happens about as casually as described.
But it doesn't happen yet.  Ren exits to get some refreshments (a tactic of denial if ever there was one), leaving Stimpy to help Sven unpack his unbelievably large suitcase (which seems to have come from the same place as the baseball bat, as it simply appears out of nowhere).

Sven, as it turns out, is a ringer for Stimpy (except Swedish, and not a cat).  Ren stands between them as shot whip pans back and forth between Sven and Stimpy, both making identical squeals of stupidity.  This is a shot that sets the episode on its ear.  Up to now, the episode has been deliberately slow-paced (even the horse-kicking bit had a timing all its own), and now the "camera" rockets back and forth between the two, with Ren caught in the middle.  Instantly the audience is given motivation for Ren's impending explosion.
When Sven pulls out his own brain for Stimpy to see, this is also drawn out, but more for grotesque reasons.  A pair of tweezers are employed, and a drawn out sound effect completes the cringe inducing sequence.
The brain sequence is, once again, deliberate and precise in its pacing.  When Stimpy's brain first falls out of his ear, it is not completely obvious what has happened.  Several seconds are taken to document 1) Stimpy leaning over.  2)  The brain falling out.  3) Stimpy noticing this.  4) Sven noticing this. 5) Stimpy picking up his brain.
Stimpy's brain, the audience learns, is about the size of a hazelnut.  Sven's has the shape and size of a sperm.
Fade in on Ren dressed for work as Sven and Stimpy giggle annoyingly.  Ren glares at them while turning colors.  Literally.
Ren returns to find his worst suspicions now a reality--Sven and Stimpy are now pals, as well as "lodge brothers," whatever that means.  Fade to black as Ren kicks himself repeatedly in the face.
Ren and Stimpy gags fall under two categories:  1) Jokes the audience laughs at but doesn't understand, and 2) Jokes the audience laughs at but can't watch.  The brain gag fits under both.
They decide to play "Seek and Hide," and Stimpy hides first.  As Sven looks for him, there's a nice reference to Hanna-Barbera, as the same background moves behind Sven three or four times as he looks.
Ren leaves, warning them not to do anything stupid, and Sven and Stimpy literally jump for joy.
If any one thing is given attention on this show more than anything else, it's Ren's temperament.  Ren seems to tighten at every move, as he watches Sven and Stimpy amuse themselves by mashing their faces into a piece of glass.
"I'm in the clooooooset," sings Stimpy, "Like an iiiiiiiiidiot!"
"I yam looking for you now," says Sven, skipping along past a plant and a picture, a plant and a picture, a plant and a picture.  "I yam finding you!"
Once Stimpy is found, Stimpy invites Sven to climb into his litterbox (his first material possession).  Sven does, and suddenly, a moment that can only be described as passionate tension strikes the two of them, and their eyes meet.  They both love the litterbox!
The screen mercifully fades to black.
"Hey," Stimpy says to the audience, "this is private!"
