The Burren is an approximately 12 x 5 mile stretch of land on the west coast of Ireland just south of Galway. The Burren is characterized by the rocky land as seen in the picture. The culture in the Burren remained untouched for thousands of years since the land was considered a wasteland by all those who invaded Ireland. The picture shows a 5,000 year old burial marker called a dolmen. This tomb contained around 20 people. The pictures below are of the coastal town of Lahinch. We passed through Lahinch on our way back to Galway from the Burren.
