Newspapers, cheap and readily available, provide the most up to date information on events as they happen. There is something for everyone, which means it can be a highly motivating source for those learning to read, for developing reading skills, and above all for those people, young and old, who are learning English as a second language. |
| STUDENTS' QUEST Students must first become familiar with the unique writing style of newspaper journalism. The headline is a compact eye-catching summary of the story in which something usually happens. Then the lead will summarise the story in a few lines. The newspaper is helpful for building vocabulary. One such story offers many language opportunities.
