Making Music
(and other thoughts)

Okay then, first things first.  Since it's now 0:17am, it's officially my birthday and I'm now 23.  Wow, I really really don't feel any differant.  I wonder where all the time has gone.  It's been nearly three years since I started my latest job, Nearly two years since I was in Texas..........
Things have changed since I was younger that's for sure.  I feel really really old knowing that I grew up in a world that used Records instead of CD's, A world where a top of the line computer was a DX33 with 4 mb of ram, as for the internet and mobile phones???  I've noticed the change in Irish Weather too with the Global warming.  Milder winters, no more snow to speak of and of course, wetter damper summers.  Of course, life is following the old rules,  Everything changes!  I won't lie, I'll say that I'd honestly like to relive some of life's moments again.  I don't know if I would change anything that happened, but at least I know now, that whether something good or bad is happening, you should savour the moment, for someday, these will be your memories.

Anyway, I also decided to share a small bit of my music tastes with you.  To do this, I went and made a tape and decided to show you what music I would put on it,why I choose it and a small quote from the song!

So here we go

Side One

Fire up the shoe saw - Lionrock
A pretty up beat dance number with a great hip hop summer beat.  "What is rock and roll anyway?"

You Need love like I do - Tom Jones Featuring Heather Small
A great love song with a hell of a good groove.  "Every day is an uphill climb to keep my hopes afloat"

Magic Carpet Ride - Philip Steir featuring Steppenwolf
Groovey, Funky and satisfying!  Great as a summer driving song!  "You don't know what we can see!"

Complications - Ohjammo
Great song from the "Grand Theft Auto" soundtrack.  "Useless Patience, Complications, they don't need you!"

Couldn't Get It right - Fun Lovin Criminals
Very 70's feeling song by a great group.  "I kept on looking for a way to make it through the night......."

Body Rock - Moby
A pretty mindless dance number that just gets you going!  "Never stop Y'all, to the beat Y'all!"

Falls Apart - Sugar Ray
A very good song about being alone, somewhat sad.  "She falls apart by herself, no one's there to talk or understand"

Mind - Vibrolux
A pretty laid back and seductive sounding song.  "Can you feel me, can I drink your wine, that's the way I like it"

Side Two

Pimpdevil - Phoebe Legere
A very talanted women, if it has a string or a key she can play it!  A song that speaks volumes.  "You devil, you devil, your coming to town, your lying and cheatin and sleeping around"

The Air that I breath - Feline
There has been a lot of versions of this song done, but this is by far the best.  It actually gives REAL meaning to the song, it actually uses a very minor melodic sound to get the feeling accross. "What more could I ask?  There's nothing more to be desired......"

6 Under Ground - Sneaker Pimps
A classic song with great music, would have loved to hear more from this band.  "Don't think because I understand, I care, Don't think because I'm talking, we're friends"

I won't Miss You - Alisha's Attic
A good song with a good message.  "No one told her, that you never get over, you just learn to live with it"

Wishing I was there - Natalie Imbruglia
Great vocals on this song by a very talanted Aussie Singer.  "Put those thoughts away, sometime their much too loud"

Hush - Kula Shaker
One of the best groups I've heard in a long time, this is an all time CRANK IT ALL THE WAY UP song!!!!!!!  "Well, gotta a silly little girl she's all on my mind, look all about you, look so fine, she's the best gal that I ever had.........."

Beautiful Stranger - Madonna
Forget about the Austin Hype (besides, Dr Evil is a much better and funnier character!!!), this in it's own right is still a brilliant song, and so true to it's word.  After all, can't we all say that in some stage in our lives that "I fell in love with a beautifull stranger"

What can I do - The Corrs
So simple and so true, "What can I do to make you love me?"

Well there you have it, just a pretty good tape to listen too while I commute to and from work.  Something that I can relax to, but also get's me thinking when I concentrate on the lyrics.  I've tried to include links where possible, but a lot of these bands are hard to find, or else their songs are special releases and not available on their albums.  Anyway, it's my birthday, I'm tired, I'm supposed to be up for work in a few hours, so I had better get myself to bed.  I hope that you have a wonderfull day/night ahead of you!
