how does the modern man go about proving that he has meaning? since he feels that he has done away with God, and even morality, he need not look any longer to a moral code transcendant to humanity. and since his morality can only be generated by finite and single-time-dimension-restricted mortals it can never be universal nor can it be enforced as such. There ceases to be good and bad. only action and inaction. For which of the humans have the right to decide which of the codes that the rest are to follow? is it majority rule? or the oligarchy of machiavelli? what then of the codes not followed? are they less valid for not being accepted by the many? the fluidity in what is "right and wrong" to a modern man disallow there to be any neccesity or obligation for anyone to obey any such rules or codes handed to him. Is his meaning to do good for humanity? no. there can be no meaning in meaninglessness. if there is no "code" to proper living, then there is no code for humanity's well-being. the idea of "well-being" is singular. it is a completely personal idea when God and morality are taken from the picture. therefore humanity's well-being is a myth. all that you can worry about it "numero uno" Who says it is right that humans stop cutting down the rainforest? who says humans should conserve natural resources? when you can no longer have meaning in striving for the well-being of all, strive for the well being of yourself. if cutting down the trees now gets me what i want now yet kills of my childrens-children it will never be wrong. modern man can only have meaning in his own pacification and satisfaction. if he finds he achieves this by pleasing others men call him good. if he finds meaning in hurting others, men call him evil... yet they are both one and the same man. when frederich nietzche said that man had killed god he forgot to say that he had also killed meaning. and man is now an animal. kill or be killed. take or be taken from. law is a myth order is a myth you are merely waiting to die and filling it with any scrap of pleasure you can. |
