How to Juggle
Below is the text that accompanies this
animation. Please feel free to read it while downloading the GIF animation.
First take one beanbag and toss it up in front of you is a
smooth arc, wait for a little while and you will notice that it begins to change
direction. If you wait long enough it will soon collide with the ground. This is called
The Drop. It is the first true juggling move I learned. If you practice for a while you
will find that you can do The Drop with one, two, or even three objects. Some people
practice the drop with seven or more objects, I know I've seen 'em.
The First Toss.
Start with one ball or beanbag. Your hand should move in a little scooping
motion. Throw from your right hand to your left, then from your left to your right. The
bag goes up about eye-high in a smooth arch every time. It does not go round and round in
a circle. It moves in a sorta sideways figure eight (can you say "the symbol for
infinity"?) Do this until you're utterly bored; your mileage may vary! |

The 2 Bag
Exchange (the Jug).
Your hand swings in to make the toss and out to make the catch. The second throw
is just inside, or under the second bag's arch. Start with your right hand a few times,
then switch and start with the left. Do NOT throw the bags at the same time (synchronous),
but rather alternate: one, two... one, two... or Lub, Lub... Lub, Lub... |

The Grand Finale.
This is really doing a bunch of step two over and over and over. Just
exchange the bag in the air for the one in your hand (repeatedly). This may seem difficult
at first, practice!

Here we go again... 'cept with 3 bags
The Starting position.
Two bags in one hand, one in the other. Smile!
|

The 1st
toss.
Smooth arch, about eye-high... |

The 1st
exchange.
As the first bag comes down, reach up for it while letting go of the
second bag. The second bag continues it's arch towards your other hand. |

The 2nd
exchange.
You exchange the second and third bags in much the same fashion that you
exchanged the first and second.
Note: Your hands weave back & forth ("scoop tossing") so
that the up-going bag can avoid the down-going one. The 3-bag technique is the same as
with two bags 'cept repeated indefinitely. You are simply trading the bag in the air for
the one in your hand; over and over again.
