Bear
Please visit Barts' official homepage by clicking on their logo or by going to vitalground.org. Vital Ground buys up land for grizzlies and other wild animals so they have a safe place to live.  Donate a little and save a big grizzly.
Bart was a 1500 pound kodiak grizzly.  He was born in a zoo and they were unable to care for him so Doug and Lynne Seus raised him from the age of 5 weeks.  Bart starred in almost 15 films.  He was the most sought after animal actor in Hollywood.  Rumors had it that Bart was paid a million dollars to appear in "The Edge."  He died in May of 2000 from cancer.  He was 23 years old.  How many bears do you know that made it to the Oscars?
Here are some of the movies Bart starred in:
The Bear
The Edge
The Great Outdoors
Legends of the Fall
Meet the Deedles
On Deadly Ground
White Fang
Wild America

Little known Bart facts:
Bart loved Hawaiian Punch
Bart had no children, although he was never nuetered
One of Barts' favorite pasttimes was bathing himself and playing in his own dammed off creek.
Mr. Seus groomed Bart and maybe all of his bears with a wire dog brush
Mrs. Seus use to cook Bart a roast the night before he had a shoot
To quote Lynne Seus Bart was a four legged human and Doug is a two legged bear.  So yes Bart was tame around his people, but still always a wild animal.
Doug trained Bart and his other bears with voice and body commands.
Doug uses lots of love to train his bears, never anything harsh..... after all he started Vital Ground because of his love for Bart and all grizzlies.

Tank the Bear is bursting onto the scene and is becoming a big star really quickly. Soon I will have some info on him.  He's a smaller bear than Bart was, but just as cute!  Until then here is Vital Ground's page on him.
Visit vitalground.org for more info on Bart and the Seus' other acting bear family.  And of course to learn how you can help save the grizzlies habitat.  Theres a ton of fun things to read and cute pictures!  Thank you!!!
