Since I've never seen the Japanese version of Sailor Moon, all of this is based solely on the manga, other profiles I've read and the newly dubbed episodes airing now on Cartoon Network. :)
Anyway... Haruka is your classic tomboy. She dresses like a guy, talks like a guy, walks like a guy, and has a girlfriend. When the Inners first met her, they even thought she was a guy, so she flirted with them. She loves racing cars and motorcycles, running and playing the piano... the latter of which comes as a surprise to everyone.
Sailor Uranus is *very* dedicated to her mission of finding the Talismans (this would be SailormoonS), and will let nothing stand in her way. She'll sacrifice *anything* (and I do mean anything) if necessary. She's very brusque and blunt, but through knowing Usagi (whom she calls "Odango Atama," like Darien and later Seiya... or, in the dub, "Moonface," which is just dumb), Haruka lightens up a little bit in that regard. She fights with her talisman, the Space Sword, and is a formidable soldier. I'm glad she's one of the good guys! :)
As for Amara... first of all, what's with the name?! Who would think someone named "Amara" was a boy!? I had heard that her dub name would be "Alex," or that it was in the movies (I have them subtitled, not dubbed). That makes perfect sense to me... but "Amara!?!" God only knows.
Despite the name, she's slowly emerging (I *know* I spelled that wrong... I need a blasted spell-checker on this thing!!) as one of my favorite senshi. Hehehe... I have a list about a mile long now! Mars, Venus, Uranus... then Jupiter and Pluto... er, I'm getting off topic. Anyway, she and Neptune are a little bit bitchy over this whole heart crystal thing, but c'est la vie. Over all, she's tres cool.
Haruka is involved with Michiru, Sailor Neptune. Though the two never actually *admit* this, it's pretty obvious (to quote my friend Vanessa, "Cousins?!"). When Haruka's teasing Usagi and the others by pretending to be a boy, Michiru plays the role of her girlfriend. Haruka is very protective of her, and takes the dominant role and is very possesive. Also, Hotaru later calls Haruka, "Haruka-papa," and Michiru, "Michiru-mama."
