Food

We were very pleasantly surprised by Cambodian food.  Rice and noodles are the staple diet and soups are a good way to stretch ingredients.  Forget lamb; you can get pork or beef especially in the cities, but fish is the main source of protein. There are lots of delicious fruit and vegetables.

Cambodians can use spices but the food is nowhere near as hot as in Thailand.  They also widely use herbs such as mint, coriander and lemongrass.  French baguettes go nicely with curry, but don't expect anything like boulangerie standard.

Cambodia's most popular flavouring is fish sauce - everyone has their favourite make (except us!).

Here are some recipes for you to try, if you're feeling adventurous (and can get the ingredients).
