Unlock Hard Mode
Start a one-player game and select the VS. Computer or Flash Mode option. On the Character Select screen, highlight your opponent's character and hold the L Button. While you're holding L, press A. You'll start a game on Hard Mode.

Unlock Super Hard Mode
Start a one-player game and select the VS. Computer or Flash Mode option. On the Character Select screen, highlight your opponent's character and hold the L Button. While you're holding L, press B. You'll start a game on Super Hard Mode.
