Get Luigi
To get Luigi, win Bonus Practice 1 with all 8 main characters. Luigi will then challenge you to a match. Defeat him, and he will become a playable character.

Get Captain Falcon
To get Captain Falcon, complete the game on any difficulty in 20 minutes or less. At the end of the game (after the credits) Captain Falcon will challenge you to a match. Defeat him and he will become a playable character.

Get Jigglypuff
To get Jigglypuff, complete the game on Normal difficulty. At the end of the game (after the credits) Jigglypuff will challenge you to a match. Defeat Jigglypuff and she will become a playable character.

Get Ness
To get Ness, complete the game on Normal difficulty, with the Stock set to 3 lives. You can't use any continues. If you do complete the game, Ness will challenge you to a match (after the credits.) Defeat him and he will become a playable character.

Sound Test
To get the sound test, complete Bonus Practice 1 & 2 with all 12 characters. The new option (called Test Music) will be on the Data screen.

Item Select
You can choose which items appear in a VS Battle. Just play VS Mode at least 50 times and the new option will appear.
