The entry into
the suit is today through a water proof zipper,
which can be around the shoulders or across the
chest on the front of the suit, before the
waterproof zipper become normal, there was
several ways to enter the suit. On
Viking Suits the Latex neck-seal was so wide that
the diver was able to crawl into the
suit, when 2 helpers stretch the latex-sealing,
the final lock was done with a neck-ring and a
latex hood.
Other suits was divided in 2 parts, the
top extended down the legs, and a bottom extended
up the the chest, the bottom part was then folded
down the legs with the top part on the outer
side, and the two parts was then
rolled in each other, finally the
rolled rubber was secured by a wide
rubber band.
On some
Typhoon suits, the suit got a wide opening on the
chest, in which the diver entered the suit, the
suit was then closed by pressing to
rubber-profiles together, and finally the opening
was secured with two straps on the divers back.
