This time it's Belgium...

Miata tour - Brugge 2000

A special thank you goes out to Ronald Van Kelst, and his girlfriend Kathleen, whom two years after the event in Paris, surpassed themselves with a second event "Brugges 2000". Brugge, is one of Europe's best-preserved medieval cities, and is located in Belgium. One of the littler known countries in Western Europe, and whose beauty in the spring is exquisite.

This picture postcard town is a step back in time with its gabled roofs, serene canals and beautiful countryside. It was the perfect backdrop upon which many Miata folks from around the world descended on April 28, 2000 for a gastronomic weekend of exquisite foods, the enviable array of excellent Belgium beers and a taste of fabulous chocolates.

The event itself was composed of several driving tours through the countryside that was both beautiful to behold, and challenging to find ones way through narrow roads not much wider than the cars themselves.

There was also plenty of time to get to know your fellow miatae. It was fun to have a couple from my club, Joe and Joyce Lamphere join me this year. As well as see people that I've met before, in other parts of the world, and to meet some new friends to add into my Miata family. Everyone was so friendly, and although people spoke different languages, they all had a similar story to tell. A story about how they fell in love with a little sporty car.
