All over south west China, people carried things in two baskets, made from bamboo, hanging from a thick piece of bamboo that they balanced on their shoulder. This man is carrying lettuce he has just picked out in his field.
Here is a picture of two girls I met when a local fisherman invited me into his house for tea. These girls were his daughters and they were just like so many of the girls I have had in my class over the years: smiling and laughing.
