Nepali people, from kids all the way up to old people eat with their hands. They all use their right hand only, and pretty much never use a fork, spoon, or knife. They are incredibly good at it too.

Meals in Nepal almost always include rice. Usually it's mixed soupy lentils and sometimes curried vegetables, so eating with your hand is natural.

Eating with your hand is fun. But I wouldn't do it in America. In Nepal though, everyone does it so I gave it a try. It was hard to get the rice to my mouth with out getting it all over. Eventually I got the hang of it. Most tourists use the utensils that the restaurants give them, but a couple of times when I ate Dal Baht, the rice and lentils meal, I ate just like the Nepali people. The locals all smiled and laughed at the white boy eating like them, and making a little mess.

On my trek in the Himalayas, my guide was from Nepal. He ate Dal Baht every lunch and dinner of the three week trek. He said that it's all he eats, I believed him.

Most restaurant had different selections of foods that tourists would want, like pizza, Chinese food, or pasta. I have eaten very well.
