Most of the places I went, there was someone who spoke some sort of English, so I could get by. But I also wanted to learn some Nepali so I could communicate. I learned things that I wanted to use, like hello and thank you.

Speaking Nepali to the locals, when they understood me, always brought a smile to their face. Especially when would say, "mih-toe" to the waiter. That means tasty.

Here are some other Nepali words:
Namaste ("Nah ma stay") - hello, also goodbye
Dhanybhad ("Dah nay baht") - thank you
Theekcha ("Tee cha") - OK
Shau ("Show") - apple
