Vietnam uses the same written numbers as we do, but the spoken words for them is different. But, because I know how important it is to learn the numbers and be able to use them, when asking the price of something I want to eat or buy, I learned the numbers quickly.

I'm going to write the number, how to pronounce it, then how it is written in Vietnamese (but without the tone marks).

- mot- mot
- hi- hai
- bah- ba
- bone- bon
- nam- nam
- sow- sau
- by- bay
- tom- tam
- cheen- chin
- moy- mouoi
- moy mot- muoi mot
- hi moy- hai muoi
- hi moy mot- hai muoi mot
- mot tram- mot tram
- mot leen- mot ngan

One thing that happened all the time was when I would ask, in Vietnamese, "how much?" the people would try and hold up fingers or show me the amount of money it cost. When I would count for them in Vietnamese they would get this big smile on their face because it seems that few tourists actually learn the numbers.
