S.M.I.L.E. Notebooks
1. Clear Plastic Sleeve
Students May Inspire Learning Everywhere
Below I have listed the components of our SMILE Notebooks. These will be use to teach organization to the students. Students will receive them the second week of school and they will be transported back and forth from school everyday.
SMILE’s contain the following sections listed below.
This includes an introduction to the S.M.I.L.E. notebook, our daily specials schedule, and a class list of students’ names.
2. Green Folder
Homework Sheets/ Important Notes
The Left Pocket will hold homework sheets. Homework should be completed and put back in this pocket so you know where it is in the morning.
The Right Pocket will hold important notes from Mrs. Fitzsimmons, our principal, school nurse, or other school related note. Some notes need to be returned the next day. (return them in this folder) This would also be a good place for notes for me (or write them in the school agenda), written excuses for absences, etc.
3. Blue Folder
Keep at Home
Corrected papers for you to view and then keep at home. Please be sure this folder is emptied every night! I will usually send home papers on Monday and Wednesday.
4. Other Sheets
Monthly Class Calendar
Will have any important events happening in our class on it.
Sticker Page
This page will be used to collect stickers for completing all homework and handing it in on time each day. Students who have handed in all homework (including tests signed) for the week will get to play Homeworkopoly on Friday! A student's agenda must be signed at least once for the week also to play Homeworkopoly. (see Homework link to learn more about this)
5. Notebook Paper
This paper should ONLY be used for homework assignments that require this paper or notes from a parent. Students should not use this paper for anything other than homework!!!!
6. School Agenda
Our school agenda will also be put in our SMILE Notebook. We will be writing our homework assignment down in it EACH night and I will also frequently write any quick notes in it for you to read and sign after. Your child will also receive his/her daily "behavior" grade (smile face, straight face, sad face) in it. If there is no face in it that means that your child had a smile face for the day. (sometimes our end-of-the-day is rushed and I do not have time to stamp all agendas with faces!
