History in a Box

Object:  Shadow Box

Overview:

Imagine a diorama depicting what it was like to be Jewish during World War II in Europe. Imagine being ostracized from the community, forced to wear a yellow star to identify your ethnicity, be excluded from sports and school activities simply because of your religion. We have read quite a bit concerning the Holocaust in the past few weeks as well as over the summer. Now, I would like you to construct a diorama depicting a scene from the Holocaust. This scene can be your choice. It might be a room from the Annex. It might be a street in Holland showing Jews being carted out of their homes to be sent to ‘work camps’. It might be a country road where soldiers are marching while someone like Miep is trying to secure food for those in hiding. The subject of the scene you choose is up to you but it must be OKed by me before you begin your diorama.
