MATHCOUNTS
MATHCOUNTS is a national organization open to all 6th,
7th, and 8th grade students. The curriculum for this after school math program includes rigorious math problems and
activities.
Wood's MATHCOUNTS program will begin meeting on Tuesdays after
school from 3:45 till 4:30 in Room 126 sometime in October.
Weekly coaching sessions will be held through the first
few weeks of January. All Wood students are invited to attend.
In January, we will hold our school competition to select the Wood team mathletes. More information will be available in December at the coaching sessions.
If you are selected to be on the Wood team, the district competition will be held at Bettendorf Middle School on a Saturday in early February.
2004 Team - Even though we did not advance past the regional level, we did lots of math problems and team members put forth some great effort. Team members included: 8th grader Justin Evans, 7th graders Megan Middleton & Lexie Ludtke, and 6th grader Flint Ridenhour. I am very proud of all their hard work and the time they committed to being mathletes. Thanks to all of you for representing Wood in a positive manner.
