Gilligan's Island Vs. Dusty's Trail

Dusty's Trail can be considered a western version of Gilligan's Island. Seven people are on a lost wagon train trying to find California instead of being stranded on a deserted island. My purpose of this page is to compare and contrast the characters from the two shows, and give my opinion on who the better character is.

The Skipper vs. Mr. Callahan the wagonmaster

The skipper and Mr. Callahan both care about the safety of their passengers. However, Mr. Callahan is more of a leader than the skipper. Mr. Callahan makes most of the decisions for the group and looks for ways to get the wagon train to its destination. The skipper relies to much on the proffesor to solve problems.

Winner: Mr. Callahan.

Gilligan vs. Dusty

Both are inept and clumsy. Both get into trouble without trying.

Howells vs. Brookhavens

Both couples are wealthy. Both males are motivated by greed, and are Harvard men. Both women are high society ladies. Both couples do care about the others in their group.

Ginger vs. Lulu

Ginger is a movie star and Lulu is a dance hall girl. Both women like men and are flirtasious. Ginger would run at the sign of trouble. Lulu hides a gun and knife in her garters.

Winner: Lulu

The Professor vs. Andy

The Professor is a college professor and Andy is a college graduate. The professor solves a lot of the castaways problems. Andy is helpfull but not as much as the professor.

Winner: The professor.

Maryanne vs. Betsy

Maryanne is a farm girl and Betsy is a school teacher. Maryanne does the majority of the cooking, sewing, and washing. Betsy does some sewing, and makes soap.
