This is my 1934 Plymouth PE Sedan. I purchased it in 1995 from Joe Silbaugh of Shrewsbury, PA. Joe had it for about one year, and obtained it from a widow in New Freedom, PA. It was a bone stock antique that had sat in a tractor shed since 1943. It had 33,000 original miles on it when I aquired it. Of course, over the years, the paint, windows, and interior had deteriated. The legend of the car is that the farmer blew the motor running from the cops after a trip to Little Italy in the Baltimore Area to deliver moonshine. Depserate, they pushed the Plymouth into a ditch, and hoofed it home. The following day, the cops found the car in the daylight, and located the owner. The farmer was arrested, and while in jail, his sons pulled the car out of the ditch and towed it home. They stored it in the tractor shed, and yaked the motor using an overhead beam and come along. This is how the car sat when Joe went to look at it. The first thing we did to the car (after stripping the interior and glass) was cut off the cumbersome Independant Front Suspension. A 1976 Ford Mustang II front suspension was grafted into the frame, maintaining the same axle center line as the original suspension. A Chevy 350/ 350 combo was located and rebuilt for installation. A rear end from a Mercury Comet was added. The steering column and wiring harness from a 75 Buck were installed. By the spring of '96, the car was running, and put on the street in time for the June 1996 NSRA Street Rod Nationals East. Over the years, many additions and revisions were made, including: Wheels and tires Overhead console and Kenwood stereo Coach and Chasis fiberglass dash insert with Dakota Digital Instrumentation Nissan Maxima Seats Tweed Interior Smoothie Fabrications Steel Running Boards Coach and Chasis Stainless Steel Grille Filling the roof insert with a Plymouth Valarie Station Wagon roof Various motor dress up items, chrome, polished aluminum & stainless steel Motor rebuild in spring of 2004, punched .030" over, new cam, lifters, pistons, rebuilt heads |
