Christmas at Walt Disney World |
Christmas at Walt Disney World is as good as it gets. The entire Disney area is transformed into a winter wonderland filled with huge christmas trees, lights, wreaths, and carolers. Each theme park has its own towering christmas tree at the entrance. The bulbs and ornaments on these trees are almost as big as your head. The parks also play christmas music through speakers to add to the holiday environment. |
The Magic Kingdom Disney has a lot of special events just for the holiday season. The Magic Kingdom offers guests Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. This is an event that takes place at night after the park closes. Guests who want to attend the party come back to the park (at an additional cost), and enjoy all of the activities. Included in the party is Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Parade, Belle's Enchanted Christmas Show, Holiday fireworks, and a celebration at Cinderella's Castle. The most anticipated feature is that it snows on Main Street throughout the party. |
Epcot Epcot's holiday festivities incorporate the overall theme of the park. First, they have a daily tree lighting ceremony at 5:55 p.m. There's also the Holidays Around the World, which is a collection of multicultural holiday storytellers, Kwanzaa and Hanukkah exhibits, and the "Lights of Winter". The best holiday event at Epcot is the Candlelight Precessional. It takes place at the ampitheater in the United States (World Showcase). It starts about an hour or two before the Illuminations fireworks show. You'll have to get their early because the lines to be seated will be extremely long. There is a mass choir that sings traditional christmas carols, an orchestra, and a celebrity that reads the story on the birth of Christ between songs. It's a real treat!! |

MGM Studios The MGM holiday experience is highlighted by The Osborne Family Spectacle of Lights. The Studio Backlot is opened up to walk through and decorated with over five million christmas lights. You even receive a pair of hologram glasses that makes every light look like four angels. The glasses also give a hazy, blurred effect that makes it look cold outside. Maybe that's just us. Anyway, New York Street also provides some holiday cheer by having snow fall throughout the night, christmas music, and carolers for your enjoyment. |

The other areas of Walt Disney World are also decorated, such as Downtown Disney and the Disney BoardWalk. Downtown Disney has Christmas caroling, traditional Christmas music playing, and plenty of festive decorations. |
