Discovery Island
Right throught the Oasis is Discovery Island.  This is the central location of the park.  Every other area of the Animal Kingdom branches off from Discover Island.  Standing 14 stories tall on the island is the Tree of Life.  It's branches stretch 165 ft across and hold over 100,000 leaves.  The most unique aspect of the Tree of Life is that it has over 320 different animals carved all over it.  What makes this carvings so jaw-dropping is that the animals are blended perfectly into the tree.  Sometimes you can't even tell there's a carving there unless you really stare at it.
It's Tough To Be a Bug
Inside of the Tree of Life is the Disney 3D movie It's Tough To Be a Bug.  While waiting in line, you can look at all of the animal carvings and movie posters like Termite-ator and Web Side Story.  Just before entering the theater, you'll receive a pair of 3D glasses to bring out the effects of the movie.  At the end of the movie, you can feel the bugs moving in your seat.

Discovery Island Trails
These paths and trails are located around the base of the Tree of Life.  Here, there are viewing areas for a number of different animals such as a Red Kangaroo, Greater Flamingo, Saddle-billed Stork, and a giant Galapagos Tortoise.
