Disney-MGM Studio Backlot Tours This ride is pretty long. First, you'll watch monitors while waiting in line of the making of the movie Pearl Harbor. Then, you'll participate in a re-enactment of a special effects scene from the movie with fire and water explosions. Next, you'll walk through a warehouse storing articles from various Disney and MGM movies (while still waiting in line). Finally, you come to the ride, which involves riding in open-air trams that take you on a tour of famous TV home from hit sitcoms like Golden Girls and Empty Nest. There are also vehicles from different movies that you get to see too, like the spaceship from Flight of the Navigator. The ride is not over yet. Finally, the trams stop in a canyon where you see explosions and a flash flood before riding along New York Street. It's very similar to Earthquake at Universal Studios. Backstage Pass Here you get to walk through of a TV or movie set. The movie or show changes periodically. For a while it was the set of the hit TV sitcom Home Improvement. There's talk of it changing to the set of Who Wants to be a Millionaire. Walt Disney: One Man's Dream This is a new attraction that just opened in October of 2001. It was part of the 100 Years of Magic celebration, and is an interactive gallery featuring memorabilia from Disney's archives. There are exhibits from Walt Disney's life as well as Disney's history. |
