Operatives
held a rally last Tuesday on Level 12, accusing Section of unfair labor
practices and demanding better treatment.
"First they said they were fixing
up this 401k plan for my retirement," said Walter, "and that they would
'match' any contributions I made from my paycheck up to 3.5% of my salary.
Then I realized…Hey! They don't even give me a salary!"

Michael was furious too: "I'm out there, breaking my butt every day, and yet half of the operatives don't even work! They just stand around, looking as if they were extras! How many missions did Davenport have to go on this year? Only two or three? Now that's unfair!" Birkoff also joined in at the rally, speaking of the lack of training Section offered. "Every year we are told of how things are going to get so much better around here-- fewer cancellations, better staffing, section-wide training--but I have yet to see any of it! I was so understaffed last year that I had to train this punk kid Greg, who spent all his time trying to hack into the satellite link for Pamela Anderson Lee's nude wedding. Then I had to go on a mission and be brainwashed with no prior training, leaving that jerk in charge! This place really sucks!" The rally was broken up early by the arrival of Madeline, who told everyone to stop goofing off and to get back to work. |
