s promised, we are going to continue with our weekly report of the events and happenings in M.S.A.  We hope you enjoy the reading and please feel free to give your input, ideas, experiences, or suggestions.

Islamic class was held with Mohammed Yaseen on Adahb or Akhlak of Muslims. These kinds of classes will continue until the end of the session.  Jumah Salah(Prayer) was held  on Friday in room M156 ,brother Jubiad Choudhury gave Khutba. Our Bulletin Board is still not organized, and we canceled our idea about sending pencils to professor.  Executive boards members will have their available time post in the office , so new member can come and speak about any issues as they wish. We are getting ready for Islamic awareness week.  Club Fair will be held on October 30, 2002 we are planning to do new things such as: Activity Sheet, M.S.A Biography along with other Islamic information.

M.S.A. had a great opportunity to give an opportunity to talk about  Islam when we were invited by the Professor ( His Name ) in his   Research class ENG 103 in M137 was the location  on Monday 21 where Mohammad Yassen was the guest speaker with Vice President Shuiab Vincent  present as Yassen gave a brief understanding of Islam and teachings of Mohammad.     The overall reaction from the speech was that of interest and a lot of writing on the students part.  It was a great feeling seeing this reaction from the listening students and there were even a number of students who then asked questions once Mohammad was finished.   Of course, not everything could possibly be covered in an hour and a half but a point was made and the message came across.   M.S.A  passed out copies of the Qu’ran after as well as pencils and pamphlets about islam.

Mohammad Yassen also spoke with the M.S.A on Wednesday the 23rd about the Muslim Character and the importance of upholding a good practices. The importance of these classes cannot be stressed enough because they will relay back to us the importance and the foundation of Islam. “Brothers and Sisters, please remember to if you have committed a bad deed, then to have it followed by a good deed”,  said Yaseen. The classes prove to be highly informative, with this class boasting twice as many as the prior week.

We worked very hard to put a budget proposal report, sister Zubia made the first draft and it was revised by the Shoiab and Avais. The SAC mentor Greg Faurkner praised our report as being one of the best “example report”.

Allahumdullah, we proposed for the $2,100.00 on Wednesday from SCA (Student Advisory Council) and we thankfully received $1,500.00 in the end.   This meeting seemed to be a little more heated than normal. There were many questions and comments were exchange.

Our VP who was in charge of the submission of the event form for “Islam Awareness Week” was met disappointment upon turning it into George Kim.   Mr. Kim’s response was not too positive.   In the result, the event form had to be fill out again, submitted back to Greg Faulkner who then had to discuss the matter with Mr. Kim.

By end of the week, we noticed that the volume of traffic coming in and out of M.S.A office had increased. Brother Dider was not able to have our flyers Okayed to be printed.  However; we fore-filled our obligation by sending the “thank you” letters to all the CUNY M.S.A and Non-CUNY M.S.A. for their help with our last event, “Hope and Fear” which was a great success. As the week was ending a new idea was born .  It

Would be a gigantic project that could only be pulled off with Allah’s help and the entire M.S.A.

How does the idea of an Islam and Muslim Section in the library sound?

Would it not be  great to know that there would be a specific place for you  to go in your own college to grab a book about your  religion without  searching for bits and pieces of excerpts. This is one of M.S.A. way of providing services to our college community. This idea is just in the making but InshAllah (If Allah wills)  it will take off soon.

Allaumdullah.  We are almost done with this summary You are encouraged to come and speak to the Executive Members and support M.S.A in any venture that we may have.   Remember Club Fair Day is coming up so don’t forget to let others know and don’t forget to come by the table to say Assallamallaikum.  Have a great week
