Every so often, I to make a panel about a Japanese garden. I don't really know why but they're neat looking. This is the second of the panels. The first was when I was in the seventh grade for a school project. In this particular project, I wanted to give it a look as if the sun is coming in from the upper left corner. The shading on the bridge, the trees, are lighter while, although you can't see it, under the bridge is a shadow in the water. This panel was designed for a wall. A lot of the colors bleed out in the sun.
I tried to patina it with Jax patina for the first time and it was difficult to clean the panel so when I tried to patina it copper, it didn't come out copper, it came out kind of gray. I also wanted to try out the green patina, but after many coats I later found out that it needed pure copper. So it didn't look very green; in fact it made it look a little worse. The border is zinc came but because I had problems with my iron, the joints connecting the solder lines to the zinc didn't come out very smooth. So I made the solder texture rough by dropping hot balls of solder down on the zinc and then squishing it with a wet sponge. When I applied the green patina to the zinc, parts of it turned kind of white while other parts stayed copper and other parts were greyed. But I looks kind of neat like this; kind of an industrial look so I kept it this way and besides patina really means aged and that's what it looks like.
