Bay Diary's favorite group on the timmi-kat ReCoRDS label, Brown-Star, will launch its new single, "A Bee's Dream," at a record-release party and performance at 9 pm Thursday, June 4, at Paradise Lounge, 1501 Folsom St. These guys get around--last summer, Brown-Star played at the Pride celebration and the Folsom Street Fair, and recently reintroduced live music to My Place. Brown-Star's debut CD, San Fransissy, will be out later this year.

"A Bee's Dream" appears on the recently released must-have compilation, Milkshake, a CD benefiting the Harvey Milk Institute, which also features killer tracks by Chumbawamba, Pansy Division, Spackle, Red House Painters, Perch and Phranc to name just a few. 415/441-0881. One of the nation's largest lesbian organizations, Bay Area Career Women, hosts the dance, Heatwave, a tribute to the artists of Motown.
