The Amazon Basin of South America was slowly beginning to be cleared of trees, heavy machinery was slowly taking more and more trees each day. Miles of rain forest were taken all the time, and today would just speed that process up. Earth Federation flags blew in the abnormally windy day, the large stage that was set out for speeches was covered in Earth Federation garb. Press were scattered over the area, a large group of them surrounding certain pilots. Colson Diego was heavily crowded into a tent with a group of twenty reporters and their respective cameramen. He posed for pictures, flashing a wide white toothed smile at the cameras. The airhorn erupted from the stage outside, and Colson burst out of the tent as fast as he could.
Kai Nanaki bust out of the makeshift bar down from his Gouf as the man on the stage yelled, "Pilots have 3 minutes to activate their suits and fall in." Kai stumbled but then caught himself from falling, running to the Gouf where it kneeled, allowing him into the hand. He jumped in the cockpit as he watched Colson Diego do the same. The two suits faced off for a second, before Kai fell in after Colson followed by the Turn A. The Hardygun of John Markeson followed suit, and soon the line up of the Earth Federation was assembled, the last in line being the newly commisioned Physalis of Ryu Hittokiri. The Zeon suit now sported a large Earth Federation symbol on the GP02A shield and one on the torso armor.
The suits turned in one swift movement as the man on the stage began his speech. "Good morning. I, General Shivil, am proud to announce the beginning of the Earth Federation tournement. We have come here today to watch as the new leader of the Earth Federation rises above the competition to take their rightful place at the throne of the Federation army. This man will be an infallible king to the Federation forces, and we will rally around his force and support him fully. To cut this speech short, seeing as the temperature is becoming almost unbearable, we will commence with tournement, and view it from the sattelite pictures in the main tent.
Soldiers salute!"
The mobile suits brought their hands up in a quick salute. They then spread, each going to the battle zones where they would be fighting. The battles would go on at the same time, leaving the press and EF leaders to watch several battles at once.
First Battle- Colson Diego of the Ball vs. Kin Hyazaki of the Stamen- Go!
The Ball and the Stamen faced each other down when the battle started, neither one moving. The Ball was known to be less agile on Earth, but right now he wasn't showing this weakness. He made the first move and fired the 180mm cannons, which ripped through the Stamen's legs. The Stamen returned with the folding bazooka the shot ripping off the 1st manipulator arm of the Ball. The Stamen tried to move in for another shot, but found his legs to be inoperable, and the Stamen fell in a weird movement, knocking the folding bazooka out of the Stamen's hands. The Ball moved quickly, firing the rocket guided wench, catching onto the neck of the Stamen. The Ball thrusters kicked on in a powerful movement, disconnecting wires in the Stamen's neck but not severing the head. Colson simply turned the mobile weapon around and fired two close shots to the head of the Stamen with his cannons. The head popped off so easily, and Colson watched as the Stamen tried to get back up. The Ball moved into the trees, firing warning shots at the Stamen.
The Stamen finally managed to get up, and the secondary cameras kicked in. The Dendrobium Stamen simply pulled the folding shield up and the left docking binder opened up at the top of the very tip, displaying a beam saber. The right arm reached up and grabbed the beam weapon, activating it as the minovsky particles arranged themselves into the smooth cyllinder. The beam then lengthened as the intensity of the beam was strengthed. The Stamen ran into the woods, the footage of the battle followed so smoothly by the sattelite. Kin was turning red in anger, his eyes searching so hard for the mobile weapon. The Ball quickly burst through the woods, firing four shots to the Stamen, but they were blocked by the shield. The shield was damaged, but Kin still ran with it infront of him, the secondary camera was just outside of its range, allowing bad visuals but visuals none the less.
The Ball tried to crash through the trees on the other side, but the cluster was massive and it bounced him off. The Stamen swung the beam saber down, sliding through the first 180mm gun, causing an explosion that tore through the left side. Colson watched in his mind, using the newtype powers to realize where the beam saber was going to go. He brought the manipulator hand up, catching the beam saber wielding hand. He raised the last 180mm cannon in a quick movement and fired behind the shield of the Stamen, hitting it and knocking out the secondary camera. The Stamen stumbled back as the ball fired again and again, knocking the Stamen out of the tournement in a drawnout win.

2nd Battle- John Markeson of the Hardygun vs. Bliss Halo of the Crossbone- Go!
John Markeson and Bliss Halo stood on opposite ends of a fighting zone, they could already hear fighting from the other combatants. The suits were in the amazon itself, the Hardygun had the beam cannon leveled and ready to fire as the Crossbone had the scissor anchors ready. The battle started with fury, as the Hardygun fired two shots, but the Crossbone swung the beam deflecting cloak over the suit, and then off, firing the scissor anchors which screamed through the air. The Hardygun made some nimble dodges, watching the scissor anchors fly to his left and firing the beam cannon again. The cloak came out again, deflecting the beam and and firing a zanbuster blast towards the Hardygun, hitting it and pushing the suit back. The grenade racks fired off an impressive salvo of grenades which hit the Crossbone and drove it to one knee.
The Crossbone's cloak touched the Amazon and immediately shorted out. John noticed immediately and fired the beam cannon, tearing away the Zanbuster and arm of the Crossbone. The Crossbone once again fired the scissor anchors, grabbing the Hardygun by the barrel of the beam cannon and ripping it off, the other anchor barely missing. The Crossbone dived into the trees on the right side of the Amazon, the large large suit tearing into the rain forest. The Hardygun followed fired his beam guns wildly, hoping to strike the Crossbone. He rushed so blindly into the trees that he didn't see the beam dagger carve through the waist of Hardygun and disable it. The Crossbone then fired the scissor anchors and pulled the torso off of the legs, defeating the Hardygun.

3rd Battle- Ryu Hittokiri of the Physalis vs. Ron Mcbill of the Turn A- Go!
Ryu had already attacked when the klaxons rang, he wasn't past fighting cheap to win a battle of this magnitude. The Physalis was already pushing the Turn A back with vulcan fire tearing into the chest area, already destroying the doors that would open to let any missiles out. The beam sabers were activated in seconds, the Turn A thrusting and parrying with ease before quickly out smarting Ryu and moving on his shield wielding side. He poked the beam saber behind the shield, and into the waist, tearing through the armor and trying to go for the top leg motors. Ryu thrust backwards off of the beam saber and then forward, shoving his beam saber quickly into the Turn A's head. The Turn A drove blindly through the beam saber and stuck his into the shield, causing the Physalis to step back and let the shield drop.
The Turn A wildly waved its arms as it fell down to the ground, trees crashing all around. The Turn A was quickly recovering and Ryu became desperate. Firing the vulcans he kept the Turn A at bay long enough to grab the shield once more, though useless defensively it still held the barrel of his most powerful weapon. The atomic bazooka raised at the base, and soon the barrel was loading with the base. Ron Mcbill shouted out as he dove with beam saber in hand, stopping short as the torso of the Turn A hit the barrel of the atomic bazooka and then Ryu simply said, "Concede" Ron quickly complied and the match ended, Ryu hurrying to repair for the next round.

4th Battle- Hiro Gestahl of the Strike vs. Kai Nanaki of the Gouf- Go!
Kai Nanaki made his way across the battle field, not even bothering to look on the screen as he made his first move. Blindly he raised the Gatling shield and fired a small salvo of bullets into the Strike. Kai was the only one surprised when the Strike was undamaged from his attack. Hiro smiled, and raised his bazooka firing a quick blast which hit the Gouf in the torso, stripping away armor so very easily. The Strike was on the move and with his combat knives ready he approached the Gouf trying to fake the Gouf pilot out he moved to the right side, but then to the left, stabbing his combat knive. The knive to Hiro's dissapointment was now lodged into the gatling shield. The Gouf pushed forward into the Strike, pushing it back and began unloading on it with more gatling rounds. Hiro laughed this time, "Stupid fool, don't you see whats going on? Your bullets can't pierce the Phase Shift armor on the Strike. Stand down and I won't embarass you too much."
Kai didn't appreciate the words, so it was no surprise to Hiro when it drew its heat saber, and ran towards the Strike. The last combat knife in hand and the shield on the left, he met the Gouf. The heat saber went into and out of the shield while the combat knife went up and into the middle of the Gouf's head. Secondary cameras came on instantly as Kai smiled. He lifted the hand off of the hilt of the heat saber and he lashed the heat rod around the strike in close range. The Strike was immediately effected and the Phase Shift armor was losing energy very quickly.
Kai kept ahold and watched as the motors of the Strike visually died down, leaving the Strike limp. The Gouf raised the heat saber out of the shield of the Strike and he fired rounds of bullets into the Strike, leaving the suit damaged as it fell. Kai kept firing as the suit was soon riddled with bullet holes. Hiro made a last chance effort as he switched fuses and somehow got the Strike powered up. The Strike managed to get up one shot of the high energy beam rifle which knocked away the gatling shield. The 35mm shots rang out from the machinegun pushing the Strike back. The Gouf ran forward, cutting through the beam rifle and then with the free hand grabbed the Strike and lifted it up into the air, slowly throwing it down and then Kai stood above the Strike. "You will now suffer defeat." The Gouf then plunged the heat saber into the Strike, oil splashing up as the heat saber pinned it to the soft rain forest terrain.

"Alright folks, today we've seen a stunning upset as Bliss Halo of the Crossbone defeated the Hardygun of John Markeson while seeing such predictable match wins as those of Colson Diego and Kai Nanaki. The Physalis of Federation newcomer Ryu Hittokiri overcame the Turn A of Ron Mcbill, and thus the stage is set for the next round and the 2 matches that make it up. With that said we will resume the match after a brief break." The announcer walked back off to the federation main tent. Next to the large tent was another air conditioned makeshift room, filled with the pilots who were in the tourney. The newbie Bliss Halo was overconfident it would seem, as he approached Colson Diego and quietly whispered into his ear, "You better watch your back next round, scum. I will have you kneeling in defeat by the end of our match." Colson grabbed him by the shirt collar and pulled him closer, to which Bliss spit in Colsons eye. Bliss threw Colsons hands off of him and returned to the other side of the tent, leaving Hiro Gestahl and Kin Hyazaki to hold Diego back from murdering Halo. Meanwhile the pilot Kai Nanaki was having himself a drink in an easy chair, enjoying the way the Federation was treating them. He didn't even eye Ryu, even though Ryu was himself giving Kai nasty looks from across the large tent. The klaxons rang once more as the remaining pilots returned to their suits to begin the next round.
2nd Round- 1st battle- Colson Diego and the Ball vs. Bliss Halo and the Crossbone- Go!
Bliss Halo moved the Crossbone quickly to meet the Ball, firing the scissor anchors which streaked by the Ball and hit a tree. Pulling the tree out with speed he brought it back hitting the Ball but not phasing it as it fired 180mm rounds into the Crossbone as quickly as possible. The Crossbone staggered back as the shots continued. The torso was hit by a rain of shells, slowly tearing away armor in huge amounts. Colson smiled as he fired the rocket guided wench, catching the Crossbone around the waist and began pulling it closer, continuing his rain of fire down on the Crossbone. Bliss made a desperation attempt and cut the wench with his heat daggers before jetting through the 180mm onslaught and stabbing one dagger into the Ball, leaving Diego to try and recover as the Crossbone fired long beam rifle shots at the Ball.
Colson Diego quickly moved the Ball with some burst of speed, pushing it to the left of the Crossbone and firing two 180mm shots which ripped the arm out of its socket, and dropped it to the ground. Two more shots hit the Crossbone and ripped away at the remaining armor. He kept firing until he finally saw what he wanted. "Surrender now!" Bliss Halo now looked out the exposed cockpit into the cameras of Colson Diego's ball, held up his hands and surrendered.
Results: BALL WINS, CROSSBONE MOVES ONTO LOSER BRACKET FINALS
2nd Round- 2nd battle- Ryu Hittokiri of the Physalis vs. Kai Nanaki of the Gouf- Go!
Ryu and Kai were faced off for the last match of the 2nd round and the Physalis was already itching to try and assemble the Atomic Bazooka and make Kai surrender. Kai noticed this quickly and went in close, using his heat saber to try and poke inside the Physalis' shield to the torso of the suit. The shield moved and blocked the heat saber as the Physalis' green beam saber illuminated the dying light in the Amazon. It moved so quickly that Kai barely saw it take the gatling shield, and he had to eject the shield before it cut through and took the whole arm. Ryu was overpowering him with speed and unequaled melee skill, and Kai had to think of a plan quick. He fired the 35mm machinegun, as the 3 barrels sent bullets towards the Physalis, but the shield stopped them all too quickly. Ryu opened fire with the vulcans chasing the Gouf back as the Physalis began to grab the barrel of the atomic bazooka. The bazooka base slowly made its way to being aligned with the barrel, the automatic docking sequence of the barrel happened in the fading sky, as the red lights illuminated the sky. The beam saber in the left hand dropped, the vulcans were now out of ammunition, but this didnt matter. The bazooka was armed.
He pointed it at Kai, the left hand of the Physalis supporting it and the aiming mechanism meant nothing from this range. There was no way he could miss. "You know the drill...surrender." Kai stood the Gouf up straight heat saber in hand and stated in a clear voice, "Shoot then..." Ryu shouted at the man, "Are you crazy, you'll die as soon as I pull the trigger! Surrender now!" The Gouf moved so quickly Ryu couldn't keep up. The Gouf was now behind the Physalis and it wrapped the suit in the heat rod, the heat saber stabbing into the back of the Physalis above the cockpit. The suit was about to shut down completely when it fell back ontop of the Gouf pinning the suit underneath it and the atomic bazooka fired into the air.
The sky was illuminated for a quick second as the warhead left the bazooka and went into the air. The sky then exploded in a fury of blinding light, the few seconds later a great roaring as a large explosions from up in the sky. The tent in which the pictures had been flooding into went silent, the sattelite signal was gone. The warhead had struck the orbiting sattelite and caused a massive explosion, the highest point of the atmosphere now was showing a great mushroom cloud. The sky above then darkened as a shadowy object burst into flames in the smoky sky above, the sattelite burned up in the atmosphere as Kai shoved the heat saber further through ending the match as the Physalis shut down.
Results: GOUF WINS; PHYSALIS MOVES ON TO LOSER BRACKET FINALS
"Wow! The sattelite broadcasting was hit by that atomic warhead, leaving us in the blind for the two last fights. Sorry folks we'll just have to go by audio until a new sattelite can be moved into position. Coming to the Loser Bracket and Final Match, we're deciding 3rd, 2nd and 1st places in the tournement. The Crossbone of Bliss Halo is going up against the highly dangerous Physalis of Ryu Hittokiri. The Ball of Colson Diego faces Kai Nanaki and his Gouf in the championship match. One of these two men will be named the successor as the side leader of the Earth Federation. One of these two men will lead us into fight Zeon!" The announcer did not move to the tent, it was useless to go back to it. Instead he remained in a crowd of people who were waiting for announcements of the fights.
Inside the pilots tent people were already making comments of the reckless use of power by Ryu. Kai was smiling throughout it, watching the pilots laugh about it. Ryu wasn't very happy, but his opponent Bliss Halo was whenever he figured out that he was not in danger of being nuked now. A straight out beam saber match would be the deciding factor. Meanwhile Colson Diego met up with his final opponent, Kai Nanaki. "You may have survived a fight with a nuke, but you won't be so lucky with my Ball. The stage is set for your defeat."
Kai smiled and calmly stated, "You're a cocky bastard aren't you?" The klaxons sounded before either man could say another word, and everyone exited the tents to view the final battles.
Loser Bracket Finals- The Crossbone of Bliss Halo vs. the Physalis of Ryu Hittokiri- Go!
The Crossbone and the Physalis were toe to toe as Ryu spoke, "A straight up beam saber match, nothing else." The beam saber of the Physalis glowed in green glory as the beam zanbar of the Crossbone activated. The two weapons met, the Physalis pushing it off to the side and dropping the shield the other hand activating the 2nd beam saber. The two weapons met with the single zanbar, the Crossbone was pushed back and the beam zanbar was pushed to the right, allowing the left beam saber of the Physalis to cut through the left arm, knocking it to the ground.
The Crossbone shaked with a 2nd explosion as the beam saber tried to cut straight through the Crossbone, but pulled away as the beam zanbar moved in for an offensive. The remaining arm of the Crossbone was soon gone as the Physalis trapped it. The Crossbone was now in for the end. Ryu figured the match was over and went for the kill when the Crossbone fired the scissor anchor catching the Physalis at the waist. Ryu screamed, "You lying piece of---" he was cut short as the Crossbone tried to pull at the Physalis. Ryu angrily cut the scissor anchor and moved in for the kill. He cut the Crossbone's head off with one blow, and then sliced it the opposite direction in the waist area, the Crossbone exploded as Bliss escaped harm. The Physalis deactivated the beam sabers to flip off the ant below him, Bliss Halo.
Results: PHYSALIS 3RD PLACE FINISH
Championship Match- The Ball of Colson Diego vs. the Gouf of Kai Nanaki- Go!
The Ball and the Gouf. The Ball was owned by Federation standout Colson Diego, and did the press love him. They had interviewed him every chance they got, leaving the other potential side leader Kai Nanaki. Kai laughed inside the Gouf, "They act as if the Ball is the best ms on the field. It doesn't even have legs! Weak little excuses for arms, and 3 real weapons. I will have to show them what a real mobile suit pilot can do!" The Gouf and the Ball were meeting in the circle of trees that would be there battle zone. They were ready to battle as the large computer clock counted the seconds until the battle would begin.
"5...4...3...2...1...Begin!" the clock rang out, as the Ball fired quickly, the 180mm shell passing by the Gouf quickly. The Gouf fired rounds from the gatling shield, the Ball dodging quickly. "Kai I can see what you are going to do before you do it." Kai was shocked but he kept on trying, thinking of what he would do next. He moved to the right still firing, but the Ball dodged and fired hitting the Gouf and sending it into a tree. The Gouf recovered as Kai began planning his next move, once again trying to gain the offensive and once more failing as the cannons fired hitting the Gouf and tearing into the armor. The Gouf fell to one knee as the Ball circled, waiting to see what Kai would do now. Colson watched in his mind as the Gouf sprang from the position, firing the gatling shield in a diving motion. Nearly 2 seconds later the very same action was done in real life, but the Gouf was met midair with cannon fire, knocking it down and keeping it down.
Kai bounced around in the cockpit, hitting his head and groaning as he struggled to get the Gouf up. He blindly lashed out with the heat rod, but instead of dodging and firing the cannon, the Ball was hit. He was no longer seeing the future of the battle, Kai wasn't planning his moves, he was just attacking wildly. No patterns or techniques, just raw fear and strength combined to make Kai latch onto the Ball and begin to shock it. Colson himself was in pain, the electricity ripping through his body as he shook in his seat. The Gouf let go, and this time the Gouf was up, and it swung the heat saber cutting the 180mm cannons off from the ball, and then stabbing downwards, ripping the wench off of the Ball. Armed with only two manipulator arms, the Ball tried to grapple with the gouf only to have its arms ripped off by the much more powerful suit. The Ball was hit like a large baseball with the gatling shield before being filled with rounds. The Ball fell to the ground, rolling before hitting a mass of trees, laying there. Colson yelled loudly as he saw the heat saber plunge towards the Ball, and Colson yelled his submission out on the comm channels, and instead of being impaled by the heat saber, he looked upwards where the heat saber was now inactive.
