Bag Freak
DESCRIPTION: There is a 20% chance of creating a Bag Freak if a Bag of Warning (or Shrieking) is placed within a Bag of Holding. It is said that a soul of a trapped individual who had been killed inside the Bag of Holding universe is attracted to the bag, immediately combining with it and becoming the Bag Freak. The Bag Freak looks like a inky-black vaporous figure with skeletal features.
COMBAT/TACTICS: Once the bag of holding is reopened, the Bag Freak automatically attacks the opener, relentlessly slashing with its claws until the victim is killed. If it manages to kill the poor sap, it then seeks the person who had placed the Bag of Warning (or Shrieking) in the first place, using its dark form to hide in shadows (only a 1 in 10 chance of being noticed by direct observation) and sneaking up on its creator, killing with great ferocity. If a Bag Freak is ever drawn back into the Bag of Holding, it will be immediately dispersed. The claws of a Bag Freak cause 3-12 points of damage each, plus a Magical "poison" which causes those who don't save vs. poison to fall asleep as per a Sleep spell.
A Bag Freak can not be harmed by conventional weapons, requiring a +1 magical weapon or better, and then only inflicting the bonus as damage (i.e., a +1 sword does 1 point of damage, a +2 does 2 points of damage, etc.), however a cleric will have a better chance of killing a Bag Freak by casting Cure spells on them. Oddly, enough, cursed swords which do negative damage, will cause full damage (i.e. a -1 sword will cause 1 point of damage, plus its normal damage). Bag Freaks can see in total darkness. Though Bag Freaks are a byproduct with a undead soul, they cannot be turned.
Bag Freaks are also attracted to other devices of holding, e.g. bottomless chests, canters of everflowing, etc.
HABITAT/SOCIETY: Since Bag Freaks are amalgams of strange magic, they have no society and habitat.
ECOLOGY: Bag Freaks are hazardous to their makers, and anyone who gets in their way.
