Cadaver Dawg
DESCRIPTION: Cadaver Dawgs are large, mangy, undead dogs with glowing green eyes that haunt graveyards and battlefields. Anywhere there is a large number of dead bodies, you will find packs of hungry Cadaver Dawgs.

COMBAT/TACTICS: Normally, Cadaver Dawgs are content with scavenging the dead, but if they outnumber potential prey or if they smell fresh wounds they will attack. When attacking they will target either the smallest or the most wounded. They will attack this target with as many of the pack as they can with the remainder holding off any other opponents. If they can bring down an opponent, one of the pack members will try to run off with it. One Cadaver Dawg can drag a small sized creature at 1/2 their normal movement speed, a medium sized creature at 1/3 movement speed, or a large sized creature at 1/6 movement speed. They will not try to move anything larger than a large creature. If a Cadaver Dawg succeeds at moving a downed opponent to a position that is out of the sight of any potential enemies, it will then begin to devour it.

Anyone bit by a Cadaver Dawg must make a saving throw or become paralyzed for 1d6+2 rounds. Elves are immune to this effect. Anyone killed by a Cadaver Dawg and not eaten will rise as a ghoul the next night.

Being undead, they are immune to charm, sleep, hold, fear, poison, and diseases. They can be turned as ghouls and take 2d4 points of damage from holy water.

HABITAT/SOCIETY: Cadaver Dawgs are usually found on deserted battlefields feasting upon the dead. They also inhabit untended graveyards where they are busy digging up graves. One good thing about Cadaver Dawgs is that they will often prey upon lesser undead (zombies and skeletons).

ECOLOGY: Cadaver Dawgs are created whenever packs of wild dawgs scavenge on the dead bodies of evil beings. They slowly become undead beings with a hunger for decaying flesh.
