Forest Guardian
DESCRIPTION: When a forest feels threatened it can in times of great stress break off a piece of its life force into a Forest Guardian. Forest Guardians are humanoid in appearance and are made up materials found in the forest including but not necessarily, tree bark, tree roots, grass, ivy, moss, leaves, etc. Their heads are covered by simple helmets made out of iron which allow only the Forest Guardians' eerie green glowing eyes to be seen.
COMBAT/TACTICS: In a forest, the Forest Guardian always surprises his enemies. Because he is a part of the forest, the Forest Guardian has the ability to be silent in a forest. Also because of his unique nature the Forest Guardian can teleport inside a forest up to 24 feet. Nonmagical range weapons including arrows and stones harmless pass through the Forest Guardian.
The Forest Guardian is armed with a giant axe known to GMs affectionately as the wacker. While in the forest, the Forest Guardian can mentally summon his axe at any time in which time it will appear instanteously on his person.
A favorite tactic of a Forest Guardian is to suddenly appear, throw his axe, and then teleport to a new location for his next attack . This way the party thinks there are more any one attacker. A Forest Guardian has also been known to pop up right in the middle of the party hacking away and then teleporting to safety.
The Forest Guardian does take double damage from normal fire sources but still gets to roll its magical resistance to fire magic. If it is successful in its roll then it will take no damage from the spell. However if it fails, it will receive double damage.
HABITAT/SOCIETY: Forest Guardians inhabit forests. Normally a forest will only create one of these guardians but if the need arises the forest can create ten such beings which will act as a team to squash the invaders. Forest Guardians are hardly ever seen outside of their forests but they are very rare occasions where a Forest Guardian will track down the creatures which destroyed a large part of its' home forest. It should be noted that unless it is encountered in another forest, it will lose a lot of its inherent powers.
ECOLOGY: Losing a Forest Guardian is a tramatic event for the forest. For each Forest Guardian which is destroyed, 10% of the forest dies along with it.
