Kobold, Rabid
DESCRIPTION: Rabies affects kobolds differently that other beings. The disease remains mostly dormant in the kobolds system. The most notable difference is the blue tinge the kobolds get (Cobalt). Rabies comes in two stages. Stage 1 Kobolds are more intelligent than regular kobolds and they enjoy setting crippling but non lethal traps. Stage 2 kobolds is the progression of rabies during the kobolds equivalent of menopause. The kobold’s brain deteriorates and it acts truly rabid.
COMBAT/TACTICS: Both Stages of Kobold will attack anything not blue. Stage 1 kobolds delight in setting traps and elaborate guard posts. Unfortunately they go berserk when confronted by a being that is not blue or wearing blue. Stage 1 Kobolds will attack with weapons until the target is wounded. They will then abandon weapons and attack to bite. All attacks by Stage 1 kobolds are at +1 to hit.
Stage 2 kobolds attack like the rabid dogs they are. They do not use weapons but always bite to attack.
Anyone bitten by a rabid kobold has must make a constitution check –1 for each point of damage received by bites or contract rabies.
HABITAT/SOCIETY: Rabid kobolds stay in family tribes usually underground. They do not try to kill but to infect. Anyone knocked unconscious by rabid kobolds will be captured and repeatedly bitten until the disease manifests itself. Stage 2 kobolds are kept in cages and released upon whomever comes near.

Hide/Trophy Items: A valuable blue dye can be made from Rabid Kobold skin. It takes 100 Rabid Kobold bodies to make a barrel of blue dye worth 50gp.
