Ur Garush
DESCRIPTION:  Ur Garush or as called by natives, "The Grinder", or as called by sages, Mamphibitiles, appear as a large bear-like creature with several features of several different animals. The body, arms, legs and head, in general, are bear-like, but the eyes are large, human-like eyes with as wide a range in color as that of a human. Its teeth are all built like molars, capable of grinding anything, even bone, to a pulp. Its midriff and long tail are adorned with hard, dragon-like scales. It even has the fin ridges like a dragon's running from its head to the tip of the tail. It has small dragon-like horns on its head as well. What relation the Ur Garush has to the dragons is a total mystery. The Ur Garush has fleshy hands with webbing between the fingers, giving it the ability to swim. The Ur Garush has been seen to walk both bipedally or on all four.

COMBAT/TACTICS: The Ur Garush will strike with its front claws for 1-6 points of dmage each. It can also strike at the same time with its grinding molars for 1-10 points of damage. There is a 10% possibility of characters losing a hand or fingers to such an attack. The Ur Garush The Ur Garush can also swing its tail around very rapidly, catching victims for 1-8 points of damage. If characters are not careful, they can be knocked off balance.

HABITAT/SOCIETY:  Though Ur Garush can be found just about anywhere, they prefer foggy lands, highlands or the foothills of mountains. They lumber through the land, eating virtually anything in their path. If times are rough, they'll consume rocks as well, grinding them to powder with its massive molar-like teeth. A Ur Garush isn't particularly territorial, except durning mating season (which occurs once every five years). Not only will the males fight for the right to mate, but so will the female. There have been occurences where a female and male have fought, until they finally figure it out. A female will gestate up to 2 years, giving birth to one cub with a 10% chance of giving birth to twins. She will rear the cub for one full year and at that time will be half the size of the adult, but quite capable of caring for itself and inflicting similar damage.

There is rumored to be a winged Ur Garush with a higher intelligence and cunning.

ECOLOGY:  An Ur Garush will tend to stay in areas which are plentiful, but it has been known for a single creature to reduce the area to a wasteland. If times are tough, the Ur Garush has also been known to go after cattle and crops.

YIELD:
Medicinal:  The Ur Garush has been called the "Poor Alchemist's Dragon" due to its dragon-like body parts having nearly the same attributes as that of a dragon.
Spell Components:  Again, the same parts of a dragon which can be used for spell components can also be used from the Ur Garush, but with lesser results (10-20% less).
Hide/Trophy Items:  The hide is equivalent to two bear furs. The small horns on its head can fetch up to 200 g.p., maybe more if an alchemist realizes their value. The scales can be made into dragon scale armor (AC 2). The teeth, when drilled out make great ashtrays.
Treasure:  Nil
Other:  It has been known that Ur Garush cubs have been trained much like bear cubs.
