Due to the nature of this spell, only multi or dual-classed mage/clerics of good alignment can cast it. The caster opens a gate from the worst places of Hell and the fires of Hell pour through. There is a 5% change that beings from Hell will also pass through the gate. The low chance is due to the fact that even the denizens of Hell avoid the places that the gate opens to. Everything in the area of effect is vaporized. Only relics, artifacts and divine beings have a save. If they save, they are thrown out of the area of effect.

The cost of casting the spell is as follows:

  1. The caster is moved 1 full place toward evil on the alignment chart.
  2. The caster’s god or a god of similar alignment IMMEDIATELY conducts an alignment audit. Nothing short of intervention from another god can prevent this audit.

As one can see, if the caster was already on the border of an alignment change, he will have a very hard time explaining his actions. Penance from the god should be harsh even if the best of reasons is given. 

A magic user of evil alignment can cast the reverse of the spell. Heavenly Light will cure any and all disease, wounds or illness. It will also raise the dead if the beings have not been dead for over one hour.
