Excellent place for a family visit. The ship has easy access for young and old. We happened to stumble upon the NORGOMA like many others and plan to visit again in the future. The volunteers are doing a great job in the restoration. Thank you.

I have made the trips to the Soo many times on her and have may fond memories. I also have taken may colour slides during the trips. "Red" Morrison was her skipper at the time. Keep up the good work.

I worked on the Norgoma as a deckhand in 1956. She was a coal fired ship then. I lived in Manitowaning which was one of her regular stops on the wat to and from the Soo. Fond memories of sailing on her.

I first visited the Norgoma when I moved to the Soo in 1987. When I visited it again in 1998 I realized I wanted to be involved. Since then I have joined the volunteers and now sit on the board of The St. Mary's River Marine Centre that is restoring the s ip. Look for great changes in the next few years! There is no other ship like it!

I was born and raised in Soo, Michigan, but never realized that she was open for touring. Will cross the river and visit her next time I go home to the Soo.

Our family recently visited the ship and greatly enjoyed the info and displays. Hope damage done by vandals does not discourage your local volunteers. Will send a donation. Keep up the good work.

Just read that the Norgoma was vandalized on Sept.23rd, 2000. Some idiots broke every window and smashed every light fixture. The volunteer group that looks after her is asking for help to pay for the repairs.

I rode on the Norgoma in the 60's and 70's on trips to Manitoulin Island. As a young boy it was always a thrill to ride the "Big Boat". I still make the trip to Manitoulin yearly but the new ferry, the "Chi-cheemaun" lacks the charm of the old ships. I ha heard that the Norgoma had been scrapped but was thrilled to see that it is a museum. I plan to visit it the next time I get the chance. Her sister ship, the "Norilse" is a museum ship in Manitowaning (Manitoulin Island) and I visit it every year.

Wish Norgoma could be restored for active cruising; she would be much better than Georgian Clipper for the North Channel Cruising. We have had great success with the restored SEGWUN in Muskoka Gordon.

Its another great sheila! HAve they done any restoration work on her yet? When I saw her at the Soo she was in really tough shape and they were hoping to do allot of cleanup and restorations on her. That was way back in 1997. Let me know how she is doing oday.

This is a very radically cool site and it makes me want to drive 6 hours to see this beautiful ship!! Photos definitely present an aspect that makes you want to see more. The whole area in Eastern U.P. kicks butt!! This just adds to the already impress ve aura....

Really enjoyed our look around the vessel. If I lived nearby it would be a good thing to volunteer there. Take the time to see her. This web page is really good. Good info.
